Quick vinyl table: minimizing our environmental impact
By dealing intelligently with raw materials and innovating in green energy generation, we minimize our impact on nature in the production of vinyl flooring. We even created our own circular ecosystem to prevent our industrial waste from being burned or dumped. Discover how our vinyl floors are made.
Be open about our resources
Vinyl is made from
Quick-Step vinyl flooring consists of approximately 40% chalk, a naturally available material in abundance. A quarter are made from recycled PVC from our own production waste. The other half is made of what is called " virgin " or new PXC plastic, which is made from chlorine (common salt) and ethylene (crude oil).
Long lasting product
We are well aware that oil is a non-renewable resource, meaning it is a substance that cannot be replenished by nature on human time scales. That's why we do everything we can to develop vinyl floors that can be used for a very long time, up to 25 years. Furthermore, the R group & D is looking for alternative solutions with more sustainable materials every day.
If you are looking for a more environmentally friendly alternative to vinyl flooring, choose an item that cleans the floor such as a floor covering or vinyl floor liner. Laminate quick step That's the way to go.

Ortho-phthalate free
The remaining ingredients in our vinyl floors - mainly additives - do not contain any harmful substances. The plasticizers we use to make your flooring flexible are the same as those used in children's toys and food packaging and are therefore 100% ortho-phthalate free and completely safe for you and your children.
Internal closed loop
We recycle 99% of our own industrial waste through in-house production processes. This means we don't burn or dump materials unnecessarily, and we create our own circular ecosystem. Our manufacturing facility generates practically no waste that needs to be incinerated or landfilled afterward.

We recycle 99% of industrial waste through in-house production processes.
Clean air
Minimum unhealthy emissions
Most of your life happens indoors, which is why the air quality in your home is extremely important. Many factors have an effect on it: ventilation, candles, cleaning agents, and even the materials used in your interior, such as flooring. To prevent unhealthy emissions of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) - organic chemicals that have a high vapor pressure at room temperature - we keep the production of your flooring as much as possible in-house. By
Low VOC
Everything around us, like furniture or even the walls of our homes emit emissions that affect the quality in our homes. So it's important to keep an eye out for low-emission products. That's why your vinyl flooring's VOC emissions are lower than European standards, resulting in an A+ rating and an M1 label for very low emissions.

green production
good neighbor
In the plastic and laminate flooring factory, we use wood dust discharged from the laminate wood factory next door to generate green heat for the production line. This internal energy meets 70% of the region's heat needs, helping us avoid 25,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
Wind strength
To provide green energy to the Alpha Vinyl flooring factory, we invested in three wind turbines, generating 12,600 MWh of clean energy annually. This is equivalent to the annual energy use of 3,490 European households.
More renewable energy
Unilin - the team behind Quick-Step - has also invested in two biomass plants to convert wood dust and non-recyclable wood waste into green energy. Furthermore, we rely on energy from windmills and solar panels to power our manufacturing plants. What are the results of our efforts? About half of our group's output is powered by renewable energy.

Safety certified
We challenge ourselves by applying strict criteria when it comes to safety and health. To comply with some of the strictest environmental and health standards, we have received the following labels:
