How to handle gaps between laminate flooring boards
When humidity changes, boards laminate flooring can stretch and move, causing the wort to loosen and open joints. The gap can be treated locally following the steps below.
First, check the points holding the floor together such as screws or a kitchen island fixed to the floor. Remove clamping points so the floating floor can move freely.
Before you start, you'll need some tools: hammer, chisel, crowbar and knocker. Optional: wood glue.
- Look closely at the open joint and try to determine the direction of movement of the wall wool.
- Use a chisel and hammer to remove the edge board next to the laminate, or use double-sided glue to lightly tap the wooden block to avoid peeling off the wall.
- Wipe off dust and dirt on the floor and gaps to have clean gaps before closing the door.
- After removing the skirting board, determine if the board is buckled. Use a hammer and tap to bring the board into the correct position to close the joint. You can use a little wood glue at the joint to limit the gap from reappearing.
Gluing the baseboard together and the laminate floor back is perfect.
