How long does the screed need to dry before installing laminate flooring?

Wait for the concrete or screed to dry sufficiently before laying laminate flooring . With a screed layer up to 4 cm thick, it is estimated that each cm needs 1 week. Additional thickness from over 4 cm to 6 cm requires 2 weeks per cm. Sections exceeding 6 cm require 4 weeks per cm.

The above time is an estimate because it depends on climate and ventilation. Always measure humidity, compare the limits in the installation instructions, then record and save the results.

Concrete moisture meter is placed on the concrete surface, with white gloved hands holding it steady.

Moisture moves from the bottom to the surface. This takes a long time. For new concrete floors, you should always place a moisture-proof membrane on the concrete floor before installing Quick-Steploor panels. All Quick-Step liners have an integrated vapor barrier. Use Quick-Tep mattress pads to avoid future problems.

An example: for a 6 cm thick concrete base, the minimum drying time is (4 × 1 week) + (2 × 2 weeks) = 8 weeks. For foundations thicker than 6 cm, add 4 weeks for each additional cm.

Tip: always ensure that the building is adequately ventilated.
