How far can a seamless laminate floor be laid before expansion joints are needed?
Seamless tile length depends on room size, shape and temperature and humidity fluctuations.
- Room shape and size.
- Room temperature and humidity.
If the room is nearly square and the temperature and humidity fluctuate little, it can be tiled up to 13 m long without needing an expansion joint between the floors.
When are expansion gaps necessary?
Changes in room humidity throughout the year are normal and cause your floors to expand and contract. To avoid problems such as wrinkles or opening gaps, always leave an opening gap of 8 to 10 mm around:
- Floor edges (walls, doors)
- Pipe and threshold
- Heavy objects, such as kitchen islands
- When installed in areas larger than 13x13 meters
- between rooms
- For floors with complex layouts-such as T-, L-, or U-shaped rooms-additional configurations may be needed to properly divide the floor surface.
These gaps can be neatly covered with is different or Profile Mounts to the wall or lower floor.
