Where should I start with vinyl flooring?

Calculate the width of two rows of boards close to the wall before starting to join the floor.

Calculate the number of plank rows and mark the positions

Divide the room width by the width of a board to calculate the number of whole rows. Mark the position of the last intact row on the wall. Divide the remainder between the two border rows, making sure each row is at least 5 cm wide so the floor is stable.

Spread the primer

Now you are ready to lay your foundation. If you're not sure how to do it correctly, be sure to watch our video »How to install an underlayment for vinyl flooring?”.

Packaging and inspection of panels

Once you have installed the backing, you can remove the panels from the packaging and mix different flat panels from different boxes to avoid having too many identical patterns and color variations next to each other. Additionally, test all panels before and during installation in optimal lighting conditions. Defective panels are never used.

Determine direction

Vinyl planks should be installed parallel to the longest wall and in the direction of light entering the room. Arrange the end joints of the boards in two consecutive rows staggered at least 30 cm.

Since the wall is not always straight, it is best not to place the first board on the wall.

Alpha Vinyl

Alpha Vinyl can be installed in two different ways. The preferred method is method A (angle-to-angle):

Method A

  • First, rotate the short side of the installed board to the already installed short side, using the angle principle.
  • Then lifts newly installed planks up an angle of 20–30°. Panels installed in the same row will also rise because the short edges have been joined.

  • Now place your MAIN hands near the joint and pull the long part of the board towards you.
  • The floor panels will now click together. You can insert the tongue into the groove, or groove on the tongue. The tongue-in-groove method is the most common and easiest. If method A is not possible (in hard-to-reach places for example), you can use method B (extraction).

Method B

With Uniclic®, you can also join tables, by knocks the boards togetherThis method requires the use of equipment such as vacuum cleaners, dehumidifiers, mist sprayers, hair dryers, curling irons, etc. etc. to eliminate the need to lift them. Special Uniclic® tapping block. Wooden planks should not be joined with one tap. To avoid damaging the boards, you must knock them gradually.

  • You can turn the short or long side of the board first, then tap to connect the other side.
  • In places where it is too difficult to install Uniclic® panels with adhesive blocks (for example, against a wall), you can pulls them together Use pull bar and hammer to pull.
  • After installing each board and before continuing with the next board, check the long and short joints to ensure there is no height difference and no gaps.
  • Continue installing like this – row by row – towards the back of the room. The easiest way to do this is to sit on the board that has been installed.
  • Make sure you leaves an enlarged gap 8 mm (5/16") on all sides of the floor, around pipes, limits and under door frames.
